FIREFIGHTING SHADOWING ON BOARD
The course takes place on board and provides specific training and tutoring by two VVFF senior trainers to assist the crew in on-board excercises, with the aim of improving firefighting techniques and strategies in compliance with the procedures in force.
ECDIS TYPE SPECIFIC TRAINING
(Sperry, Sam Electronics Platinum, Kelvin Hughes, Furuno FEA and FDM, Transas, JRC, Concilium Maris 900, Danelec).
The training will take place in the simulator classroom of C.M.A. Maritime Training Center in Genova. The Training Center ensures that the Trainers are experienced Captains and that they will transmit the knowledge and skills in an appropriate way.
Objective of the training program:
- General overview and refresh about Navigational Electronic Chart.
- To let Deck Officers be comfortable with the ECDIS Type Specific System.
- Exercises with the ECDIS type specific simulator.
REFRESH MEDICAL BASIC TRAINING
Theoretical & practical lessons are held by a competent Doctor to allow seafarers to acquire skills regarding:
- Assessment of necessary treatments and threats to their health.
- Knowledge of the human body and competence on the measures to be taken in the event of an emergency.
- Refresh on BLS-D techniques.
CRISIS MANAGEMENT (MCA)
This Flag State accredited course is designed to give members of crew who hold a responsibility for the safety of passengers in emergency situations the essential education and training in crisis management and human behaviour meeting the knowledge, understanding and proficiency requirements as specified in A-V/2, paragraph 3 of the STCW Code.
CROWD MANAGEMENT
If you work aboard a passenger ship and your muster list duties require you to assist passengers in emergency stations, prior to being assigned any shipboard duties you must complete training in crowd management. The training is ship specific. There is a requirement to refresh this training every five years.
COMMAND AND CONTROL
Ideally suited for both new build and operational vessels. This training and assessment is designed to train crew who are in a leadership position on the muster list when dealing with a fire emergency. The course covers:
- Strategies for the control of fire.
- Yacht firefighting organisation.
- Crew training, including preparing exercises and debriefing crew post exercise.
- Inspection of firefighting equipment.
- Desk top exercises.
FIREFIGHTING
Ideally suited for both new build and operational vessels. This training and assessment is designed to train the crew, so they are competent in the role and substitute role they carry out during a fire emergency.
The course covers the safety procedures a crew should follow using their own yacht and own firefighting equipment. The course covers the following areas:
- A review of the vessels muster list and command structure for dealing with a fire. This is carried out prior to the training on the yacht.
- Command and control of fire incidents.
- Raising the alarm.
- Breathing Apparatus (BA) Donning and Doffing in accordance with manufacturer’s instructions.
- BA Control procedures.
- Casualty search and rescue.
- Safe door, stairs, ladders, and hatch procedures for fire teams.
- Handheld firefighting equipment and hoses, nozzles and foam making equipment.
- Human behaviour in an emergency.
- Self-rescue exercises.
- Abandon Ship.
- DGM fire exercises.
RYA PERSONAL WATERCRAFT - Proficiency Course
The Personal Watercraft one day course develops riding confidence and a good understanding of all aspects of using a PW.
RYA PERSONAL WATERCRAFT - Instructor Course
A PW Instructor can teach the RYA Personal Watercraft Proficiency course and the RYA Introduction to Personal Watercraft Safety course.
POWERBOAT SCHOOL RYA Powerboat - Level 2
This is the course vessel specific for those keen to get a really good grounding in close quarter boat handling plus the ability to use charts, tidal information and understand buoyage so you can undertake short inshore passages. Level 1 is not required.
RYA POWERBOAT - Instructor Course
Become a RYA Powerboat Instructor to be able to teach Level 1, Level. A great way to share your passion for boating with others.
YACHTMASTER THEORY
An advanced level course in navigation, chartwork and all aspects of planning and executing longer coastal passages and channel crossings. Essential requirement for many commercial roles and instructor qualifications.
HLO / HDA training (MCA)
Helidecks provides tailor made aviation services to the Superyacht industry through certified HLO and HDA training worldwide to all types of commercial yacht helidecks. Possibility of a private version of the course for privately operated non certified helidecks.
LIVE FIRE TRAINING
The training will take place in C.M.A. Maritime Training Center in Genova. The course provides theoretical and practical training for firefighting and rescue operations during a real flashover condition by the fire crew inside yachts.
Objective of the training program:
- Let the crew learn and understand how to act in a real fire scenario with a real fire training.
- Smoke management.
- How to act in a smoky and hot environment.
- Correct use of PPI.
- Correct use of fire extinguisher.
- How to act in a team.
- How to manage the emergency.
- Communication in emergency situation.
FOOD SAFETY - Level 2
With trainers certified by the IMO and MCA, with a long experience in the yachting industry, this training will give you the opportunity to acquire new skills and techniques.
All the food safety levels are accredited by HABC and compliant with CISR and many other flag states. An ideal course for all levels and all departments, including deck!
WINE COURSES
These courses are held by Hannah Lunn, wine consultant and certified WSET educator.
They’re organized in various levels of training based on tasting, serving & pairing, storage, important differences between each wine, key regions & grapes and a lot more, with a special yachting focus.
COFFEE TRAINING & LATTE ART BASIC LEVEL
This training will make you achieve the best skills to extract and serve high quality espresso coffee and make decorations on other beverages. Program:
- How to choose coffee blends.
- How to preserve and the store coffee.
- How to choose the equipment: espresso machine, grinder and other stuff.
- How to fix, calibrate and clean the equipment.
- Creation of “coffee menu”.
- Set the work station.
- Learn how to use the espresso machine and grinder.
- How to steam the milk.
- How to create the most tipical italian traditional coffee beverages.
- How to solve tecnical problems.
- How to create some figures (like: heart, tulip, rose…).
